627 Emails!
by Vera Raposo

I'll never forget the day I opened my email box to see 627 Emails.
I went to to see my sister (who lives 5hrs away) that summer and didn't answer my emails for 2 days.

I learned very quickly how to manage all the incoming mail.

Pretty much all of my auction selling is on eBay. The best of the best. I've always thought to myself, why sell locally when I can sell to the world!

I started selling on eBay in 1997 when my second child was 2 yrs old.

So let's get back to...........drum roll please...........emails.

The hardest part I find is answering the emails. What's most difficult for me is that I list so many darn auctions that I find it hard to keep up with the emails.

Probably 80% of my emails are people asking the same questions. Like,

"How much is my total?" "Where do I send payment?" "How long will it take?"

All of these emails I use a template to answer back. All of these "common" questions can easily be answered by looking at the auction page listing.

I find it just takes time away from all the listing and packing that I should be doing.

But whether I like it or not emails are all part of Customer Service.

Meet or exceed your customers expectations & ALWAYS respond in a kind manner.........

even if they're YELLING AT YOU.

I think if everyone had to actually talk over the phone for each transaction, we could get alot more accomplished.

So for emails here's my tip:

Be kind, sweet as pie, and always professional.

My personal goal: To add something extra to my emails today. Really let that customer know that I appreciate their purchase.
